Clubbing in Ayia Napa Cyprus

Inferno

The cavernous Cyprus clubbing scene in Ayia Napa, or Agia Napa as it is often now called, is the stuff of legend. And Ayia Napa holiday visitors will need legendary helpings of stamina if they are to endure the resort's throbbing party scene.

Ayia Napa holiday clubbing is said to rival that of Ibiza and both resort rivals beat the drum for the honour of the top clubbing title.

In fact, there isn't a tambourine to choose between them. If anything, Ayia Napa may steal the edge by bouncing to a wider music beat and for having the more compact club and bar layout, bit it's not really worth crowing about.

Aya Napa's forte is the 'grime' and 'garage' but there's something for everyone (unless they got musical taste of course); House, Electro, Tech, R'nB, Hip Hop, Old Skool Garage, Bashment, 70's, 80's and more.

Thousands roll up in Ayia Napa square in Cyprus each night to throb and sweat to everything from 70's Disco to Hip Hop, with the top clubs all concertina'd around the resort's central square.

After a night sweating it out under strobes and lasers its time to toast all day on the beaches of golden sand or wade about in the bright shallow blue waters of the Mediterranean. If you thing the nights are hot, prepare to be baked to a biscuit by day. Ayia Napa beach Cyprus is hot, hot, hott. The thermometer can crank up to 30C+ .

Greek legend has it that Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, washed up on a Cyprus beach and the stunning sands of Ayia Napa do make you feel like she picked the perfect spot.

Not hard to guess what she'd make of modern Ayia Napa's tourist trappings though. Apart from the nightmare of neon and the all-night bedlam there's permanent funfair, a world-class waterpark, a 24-hour burger queue and as many karaoke machines as Madonna revivals.

It sounds dreadful, and it most certainly is unless you are young enough not to care. Ayia Napa on Cyprus is home to over 250 bars and clubs but some of the best known are Abyss, Bagleys, Black & White, Blue Moon, Carwash, Castle Club, Chameleon, Club Ice, Insomnia, Piazza, Play, River Reggae, Starskys.

As well as the major clubs there are family entertainment bars, mainly found around the harbour, with karaoke and tribute acts. Cafe bars spring up every year where the music is chilled - places to sit and chat - with the best ones around the monastery. English pubs are a popular fixture as are a trio of Irish pubs bars which feature live music. Several good cocktail bars which are found near the Carwash club.
